In this workshop, kids with a parent or guardian will create glowing, pop-up cards using copper tape, a coin cell battery and an LED light.

Soldering is optional. Cards can be made without any soldering, or you can learn soldering in this class.

This class is intended for kids 8-13 with an accompanying adult. Ages 13+  unaccompanied by a child are warmly welcome, too.

Participants will leave with their own hand-crafted, light-up cards and a basic understanding of how circuits work. This is a fun, activity for parents and children and a great introduction to e-crafting.

For those not into butterflies, you can make robot-themed cards. 

IMPORTANT REGISTERING INFORMATION:
Adults: Please register yourself and then enter the number of "guests" (children) you are bringing. The form will show that each "guest" is $5, which will cover the additional materials fee for each child. You will only be charged once for the class tuition but it will tack on the additional $5 for each child (for materials fee) and be totaled when you complete your registration. 

Rebecca Graham has been teaching coding and electronics classes to kids and adults for 4 years. She studied Computer Science at the University of Mary Washington and works as a senior software engineer in the areas of machine learning and natural language processing. She loves cats, glitter, putting LEDs on things, and helping people get excited about creating with technology.
