December is the time to turn up the torch and make holiday beads to use as an added surprise to your gift wrapping or just to wear simply strung on a cord. You'll create snow-covered trees as well as holiday trees wrapped with silver garlands and ornaments.

What are the holidays without sweets? Traditional mint candies still in their wrappers are on the menu of beads you'll make. Elves will dance off your mandrels, and snow will fall onto your beads. 

This class is a chance to embrace the holiday season as well as try small-scale sculpture on the mandrel.

• Skill level: Advanced beginners and intermediate. You should be comfortable working with the torch to manipulate soft glass.
• A short break is included so bring a snack. You're encouraged to bring a closed drinking container, and hydrate as you work.

• A $12 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers everything you need for this class except mandrels.
• You need to bring 20 pre-dipped mandrels to class and are encouraged to bring any tools and colored soft glass rods you’re more comfortable working with.

Prerequisites

You need to have had some experience with beadmaking or taken at least one introductory beadmaking class, such as Introduction to Torchwork: Beadmaking. You should be comfortable forming and shaping beads and applying dots. 

Class Policies

• Closed-toe shoes and long pants are required in the Glass Studio at all times. Long hair should be tied back.
• Long sleeves and clothing of 100% cotton are required to prevent burns.
• Ages 14 and up are welcome.
