About

The Oberlin Tote is an elevated market tote with a reinforced base, leather straps, magnetic closure, exterior pockets, and an interior zippered pocket.

You'll be using these skills: 

  • Working from a pattern to accurately cut, measure, and mark all the pieces.
  • Top stitching.
  • Installing a zipper.
  • Sewing French seams.
  • Attaching leather tote straps.
  • Installing a magnetic snap.
  • Creating and sewing binding. 

Details

  • A materials fee of $81, included in the price of the class, covers the Klum House pattern and all the leather and hardware needed.
  • You will need to bring 1 yard of fabric for the main tote body, base, and interior pocket; 1/3 yard fabric for the exterior pocket; and matching threads.
  • Your fabric choice should be one of the following:
    • Mid-weight canvas.
    • Waxed canvas.
    • Denim. 

Prerequisites

  • You are free to bring your own sewing machine or use BARN's.
  • If you plan to use a BARN machine, you must have completed Fiber Sewing Machine Certification.
  • You'll be able to indicate your choice when you register.
