About

Canceled 4/7. This was actually never posted publicly because I was awaiting to hear from Doug if the class would be rescheduled since it was scheduled for Mothers Day.~tt

Join the ETA studio for 2 hours as it becomes a maker space for kids and their family.  A variety of projects will be available to engage in, or you can bring your own ideas from home to pursue.  A kids STEM evangelist will be available to assist or offer guidance in using the capabilities of the ETA studio and to help spark an interest in the world of making things.

Examples of areas of pursuit include 3D printing, simple electronics, DIY Minecraft projects, etc. The project may be a single day project or more involved projects may span several Junior Maker Space days. Bring your own ideas and learn what STEM can mean to you and your child. This event requires an adult to accompany the child.

Examples of possible projects:

  • Create a light up minecraft torch, wire up a DIY headband, or wire up a new invention
  • Learn to code with Arduino, Kano, Makey Makey and more
  • Develop 3D modeling skills and print your creations
  • Learn circuit building with Snap Circuits, Little Bits, and hands on projects
  • Bring your own long term projects from home for help

Details:

  • This guided studio time is for one adult bringing a youth with them.

Instructor Bio:

Dr. Erica Saint Clair is the Education Director at the Battle Point Observatory where she runs monthly community science classes in addition to teaching after school science classes at area schools. With a PhD in Physics and two young girls she has been teaching scientists from preschoolers to undergraduates for the past 15 years. Through her years teaching she has become a Maker - someone who dreams, builds, revises, and creates a wild variety of DIY projects - and is excited to help families at BARN embark on a journey of Making through this new ETA offering.
