Kumiko is a technique of assembling wooden pieces into intricate, interlocking geometric patterns without nails.

Wear safety glasses and closed-toe shoes, tie back long hair, and avoid loose-fitting clothing and jewelry. We recommend bringing your own safety glasses.

A $90 materials fee included in the cost of the class covers all materials and shop supplies.

Project

You will make five jigs that help ensure accurate cuts:

• A cutting block
• A planing jig
• Three double-ended jigs for cutting 45- and 67.5-degree angles, 30- and 60-degree angles, and 22.5- and 67.5-degree angles.

Prerequisites

This class is open to students who have taken Orientation to the Woodshop, Woodshop Tool Safety Checkout 1 and Woodshop Tool Safety Checkout 2.
