With a few simple tools and a little imagination, participants will learn basic jewelry-making techniques in this hands-on workshop and see how to transform thrums and “weftovers” into different types of jewelry using traditional and non-traditional jewelry findings.

 Participants will complete pieces suitable for wearing. In this class, techniques are presented individually and participants will have the opportunity for hands-on exploration.

There is an additional Materials Fee of $5.00, cash or check made out to BARN to be brought to class.

Materials Lists:

  • Instructor will supply: Spiral-bound color-printed handout of Instructions of techniques share during class, access to jewelry tools, findings, and other jewelry making supplies.
  • Participants will bring: Scissors. Optional items – Round-nose pliers, chain-nose pliers, leftover yarns, thrums, and old jewelry to use as parts and incorporate into new jewelry.

Fiber Arts Studio Artist-in-Residence:
Robyn Spady

Robyn Spady is a national treasure in the arts and crafts field, and we are are delighted that she is our inaugural BARN Fiber Arts Studio Artist-in-Residence.  Robyn is often the keynote speaker at conferences and meetings across the country, and she also does hands-on teaching. She is the author of numerous books and writes regularly for various fiber publications, including Handwoven.
