Monotype is a versatile form of printmaking where you apply ink on Plexiglas plates using brushes, rollers and rags, and then run the plate through an etching press to make one-of-a-kind images. Become familiar with the technical aspects of monotype as you discover and explore what fascinates you.

• This workshop is geared to the beginning printmaker; however, experienced artists will benefit from the workshop as well.
  
• A materials fee of $10 is payable in class. Paper will be available to purchase at $5 a sheet.
  

Instructor: Trained as a painter, Wendy Orville has been focused on making monotypes for the past twentyfive years. In 1996, she moved from New Mexico to the Pacific Northwest and found inspiration in the lush, veiled atmosphere of the region.

Wendy Orville was born in New York and grew up in New Haven, Connecticut. She received a BA in Fine Arts from Yale University and an MFA in Painting from American University. Recently her monotypes have been exhibited at the Tacoma Art Museum, the Museum of Northwest Art, and the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art. She is represented by Davidson Galleries Seattle, Washington.

Wendy has taught at Pratt Fine Arts, The Henry Art Gallery, University of Indiana and numerous other venues. Currently, she teaches monotype workshops for beginning and experienced artists out of her studio, inkgarden, on Bainbridge Island.
