This class is for complete beginners who want to learn the wonderful art of weaving. Weaving combines color, fiber, and patterns in endless unique options to create cloth. This class will emphasize learning all the steps involved in weaving: setting up and using a floor loom, project planning, weave structure and pattern, and many tricks of the trade. During the class you will weave small samples with the focus on learning how to set up the loom, plan your project, and weave. You will walk out of class with a strong understanding of this complex but incredibly rewarding process.

In this intensive, five-session class, you will learn how to:

• Prepare fiber to go on the loom
• Indirectly warp a loom (and what "warp" means)
• Set up a floor loom
• Weave multiple weaving structures
• Change colors and create more complex patterning
• Plan weaving projects
• Read a weaving draft

Students will use BARN floor looms and equipment.

A $30 materials fee, included in the cost of this class, covers all yarn and supplies needed.

Class Policies

• Ages 14 and up are welcome.
• Bring a lunch for after class if you like. A refrigerator and microwave are available in the BARN Commons area.
