About

This class has been canceled. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Join photographer Sarah King on a journey into the observation of light, color, form, and texture. Students will gain a deeper understanding of abstract photography and acquire a toolset for making abstract photographs. Finish this course with a small, completed photo project!

Students will be encouraged to photograph a variety of subjects such as their environments, and creative still life. Through a combination of group discussions, slideshows, practice in the field, and a review of student work, students will leave with a foundation to continue to develop abstract work on their own.

Each student will end the course with a small group of images that work together. To this end, the last class will be dedicated to in-person image review and feedback, and assistance with the editing/ sequencing process. Processing primary ideas, looking at relationships between images, and considering rhythm and flow will all be talked about in relation to each individual’s work. This will be a collective brainstorming process intended to help each other in their creative process and final image choice.

Students need to bring:
Please bring a digital camera (not a cell phone) that you already have a good working knowledge of.
