About

BARN member: $33
Non-member: $36
One 2-hour session
Open to 14 years and older

Learn three of the joinery techniques used in woodworking and why and when to use each type of joint.

This class will cover mortise & tenon joints, bridle joints and lap joints. This is a hands-on class using woodworking machinery, not one focused on using hand tools exclusively. Each student will be given wood to practice making each type of joint.

The class is suitable for woodworkers with limited experience, but you must be checked out on use of the table saw beforehand. You can do that at Woodshop Open Studio sessions, listed on the BARN calendar.

The first six people to register will be scheduled for this class. Additional sections may be opened if demand warrants.  Please email if the class is full and you wish to be added to a list for a future class.

INSTRUCTOR: Bob Spangler, owner of Robert Spangler Furnituremaker on Bainbridge,  has been a cabinetmaker and furniture maker since 1973. His work has been included in national shows, public art projects, publications, competitions and private collections. He is a key player on the BARN Woodshop's safety committee. Birgit Josenhans will assist Spangler in teaching this class. See their work at  http://rspangler.com.
