About
This class has been postponed to Monday, August 20th. Please click here to register for that class.
Make two bowls 6 to 7 inches in diameter as you build your wood turning skills and learn some of the special techniques needed for bowl-turning. This is an Intermediate class that requires a prerequisite of Introduction to Woodturning or equivalent. (See below).
You will learn how to use a bowl gouge while designing and turning two 6- to 7-inch bowls over the two sessions. In the first session, you will learn the basics about selecting green wood and creating proper bowl blanks, preserving the blanks for future turning, mounting a bowl safely on the lathe, and using bowl gouges to create the bowls. In the second session, you will turn a seasoned bowl blank as you practice and improve your gouge skills and learn the basics of sanding and finishing.
Students are encouraged to meet with the instructor during Open Studio time to finalize sanding and finishing if necessary. By successfully completing these two sessions, and turning two bowls, students will have a good understanding of the process and technique, and be able to turn bowls of this size independently during Open Studio time. Please see the Woodshop calendar for Open Studio days and times.
Details:

- There is a materials fee of $25 that will be added to the cost of class when you register. The materials are for two bowl blanks and consumables which is in addition to the class fee.
