About

Popular romance novels weave accessible, emotional, and uplifting tales of true love. Many have diverse casts and move through an engaging plot that offers insight into love and relationships, sex and romance. In these dark times, romance has never been more popular, with editors keen to discover new voices. This virtual, one-hour master class will give you the best chance of writing your romance and getting it published. Designed for new and emerging writers, this class will draw on Georgia’s experience publishing seven novels.

We’ll cover what’s popular and why, and take deep dives into character, plot, and narrative strategy, plus easy-to-implement writing practices. You’ll leave class with a greater sense of what a rom-com is today (spoiler alert: rom-coms have changed dramatically in the last 10 years!), the kind of lead characters to whom readers are drawn, the sorts of plots that’ll set you up for rom-com success and maintain delicious tension throughout, plus a recommended list of reading to immerse you in the joyful world of rom-com!

Georgia Clark

When Georgia moved from her hometown of Sydney to New York City in 2009, she had no visa, no job, no place to live, no professional contacts, no partner or even any friends. Now, Georgia has published six books, with her next, "Most Wonderful," coming out in the fall of 2024 with Dial Press/PRH. She is the host and founder of the popular storytelling night, Generation Women. She's had a play produced, been on a house team at the prestigious Upright Citizen's Brigade improv comedy theatre, awarded scholarships, grants, and writers' residencies, and lives in her favorite city in the world where she is happily gay-married.
