Construct a lightweight and comfortable hollow ring from sheet metal. And learn to create larger, dimensional forms that are basic to metalsmithing. 

In this class, you will explore the soldering tricks that make construction of hollow rings and other forms possible. You'll have the option of setting a bezel stone on top.

On the first day of class, you will need to bring a piece of 22-gauge sheet sterling silver that is at least 2 inches by 3 inches. If you want to add a stone, you will need bezel wire and a stone by the second or third week.

The class is open to students 16 years and older who have completed at least two beginning jewelry classes or have the instructor's approval. There is a $20 materials fee, payable to the instructor at the first class.

INSTRUCTOR: Maia Evans, who is originally from the desert in Israel, studied to be a silversmith during her travels in Thailand in 2001. She continued her studies as an apprentice in Los Angeles and Tel Aviv with different designers. Maia went on to study advanced Silver/Gold Smithing and design in Israel at the Shenkar College of Engineering and Design and Inbar Studio in Tel Aviv. The exposure to different cultures and to styles both modern and traditional have created a unique influence in Maia's work. See her work on Facebook.
