About

Without creating dust or noise, a nicely tuned hand plane can smooth a board, shape a crisp edge, or add a nice bevel. Bring your plane and learn how to tune and use it, or use one of BARN's. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced, you're sure to go home with tips and techniques that you can put to use in many ways.

Bring a board or two if you have one. BARN will also have a supply of scrap lumber to practice on.

NOTE: Everyone who uses the woodshop must first attend our free, one-hour Orientation to the Woodshop class. Multiple sessions are listed on the Woodshop calendar.

Instructor: Matt Jabloner, a member of the BARN woodworkers’ steering committee, is a professional engineer by trade. He has been a woodworker from before he can remember. He likes to incorporate end grain and rivets as design elements in his work.
