About

On day one, you'll learn to assess the quality of a raw fleece before scouring, or cleaning, it. On day two, we'll discuss the various methods of preparing the fleece for spinning before working with the tools of your choice to prepare your fiber.

Details

While there are no prerequisites, you'll get the best use of this class if you can spin a continuous thread. This class doesn't include instruction on how to spin.

Details

  • A $30 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers what you'll need.
  • You should bring handcards or wool combs if you have them (for the second day).

Class Policies

  • You must wear closed-toe shoes.
  • Ages 14 and up are welcome.
Instructor
Kimberly Beatty

Kimberly has been spinning since 2011. While she's dipped her toes in other fiber arts, her happy place is always the process of making yarn. She began with fiber from indie dyers, then moved to processing fleece on her own when she started the Master Spinner program at Olds College. She loves every part of the process — from finding that perfect fleece all the way through spinning the prepared fibers — and is excited to share that love with others.
