Spring is here and what better way to celebrate your new garden than with a handcrafted mosaic garden pot!
All levels of mosaic artists are welcome, even those who have never tried it before!
Please bring the garden pot of your choice as long as it is unglazed terra cotta. You can tile a large garden pot or three small herb pots, the shape and size are up to you.
In this class you will learn how to use glass tile nippers, cut fused glass, plan a design or pattern, and grout. All materials (other than the pot) will be provided.
Books and magazines for inspiration and pattern ideas will be available.
INSTRUCTOR: Elaine Greene has been a ceramic and mixed-media artist for over 30 years. She owned her own hand-painted Italian pottery business in the wine country of Northern California for over 15 years, selling her work to wineries and retail stores throughout the U.S. Elaine also taught art to children and adults for several years at non-profit art organizations.
After 20-plus years of creating pottery, she started experimenting with mosaic techniques, fusing glass, torching enamel, and expanding her knowledge of different media. Currently a mixed-media artist, Elaine loves to incorporate all of these different media into her artwork.
Her work is sold at shows and privately. She originally moved to Bainbridge Island in 2008 and works out of her home studio. Elaine is a member of the steering committee for the BARN Glass Studio and hopes to expand her class offerings with BARN.
