About
Paul Tarlow is a standard-bearer for fused glass with over 30 books to his name. This technique comes from his eBook, Beyond Frit Stretching, which is included in the class materials. BARN Glass Studio instructors, Constance and Nancy, will make this easy for you by offering 5-hours of guided assistance including their favorite tips and tricks for this technique. Class runs over 4 (non-consecutive) days.
- Day 1: Project overview, build "toppers" and load into kiln to fire glass stacks and prep kiln shelf tiles to dry overnight.
- Day 2: Prep stainless steel firing rings and assemble glass stacks or "topper" for first disk firing (flow); prep fresh kiln shelf tiles to dry overnight.
- Day 3: Retrieve flow disk and clean or cold-work disk as needed. Set up second disk firing (stretch). Clean up stainless steel rings as needed.
- Day 4: Retrieve fired disk and clean or cold-work, as needed. Discuss next step options for disk: slump, display (metal/wood stands, wall hanging hardware). Discuss variations for future flow & stretch techniques.
