This 6-week class is for you!

PREREQUISITE: Fiber Arts Studio Sewing Class from Kathy Mack or other introductory sewing classes.

In this class you will learn:
  • All about quilting tools
  • How to choose fabrics for your quilt
  • All about color combinations and how they influence the look of your quilt
  • Elements of designing a quilt 
  • How to correctly cut your fabric with a rotary cutter
  • When to stop playing with the arrangement of your quilt pieces and begin to sew.
  • How to sew quilt pieces together so everything lines up correctly
  • Creating borders for your quilt
  • Techniques for putting your quilt top, batting, and quilt backing together
  • How to machine quilt
  • How to add binding and finish your quilt

WHAT WE SUPPLY: 
  • Sewing machines
  • Cutting mats and quilting rulers
  • Rotary cutters

WHAT TO BRING TO CLASS: 
  • A notebook and pen to take notes.
  • To enhance the design process -- come with an open mind and no pre-conceived ideas about what your quilt should look like.  This will help you learn the necessary quilting techniques you will use in every quilt.

SKILL LEVEL: Advanced Beginner.  This class is also great for folks who have started or finished a couple quilts but feel like they could use a comprehensive quilting class. 
AGE LEVEL: 14 +
INSTRUCTOR BIO: Carol Latham will teach you everything you need to know to create a finished quilt.  She is a wonderful teacher who helps students with easy to understand, step-by-step instruction.  Carol received her degree in Textiles and Clothing from University of Tennessee.  She owned  "Carol's Finishing Touches," a quilting company.  She worked at Esther's Fabrics for years.  She brings her extensive knowledge of quilting and fabrics to this class as well as her wonderful sense of humor.  You are going to love this class.
