Materials fee: $20 payable by check to BARN or cash at the first class. This will cover fabric needed for the projects.

Learn to weave on a simple frame loom using a technique developed by Caroline Cooley Browne that uses fabric for both the warp and the weft.

In this three-session class, you will learn the basics about this kind of weaving and get an understanding of the materials. You will also learn skills so you can create a variety of projects. In the class, you will make a small project first and then tackle a bigger one, using some advanced techniques. No prior weaving experience is required.

Looms will be provided to use during the class. Students also have the option of buying one at a discount. Students are also welcome to bring their own fabric after the first session, since it is important first to understand what types work well for this kind of weaving and which do not.

INSTRUCTOR: Caroline Cooley Browne , a member of the Board of Directors of BARN, is an active fiber artist, represented currently by Bainbridge Arts & Crafts. She worked as a buyer for Esther's Fabrics on Bainbridge Island and has participated in fiber arts workshops at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine. She has a master's of fine arts from the University of Washington.
