During this two session class, Jen Stenhouse of Little Metal Foxes, will provide a Use and Safety lecture on Monday. You will practice using the tool on your own projects. Then on Tuesday there will be an additional tool demonstration and lecture on bits and burrs for polishing with a flex shaft at the bench.

Safety in the Studio 

Please read the Jewelry and Fine Metals Studio safety protocols here. BARN-wide safety protocols can be found here. All participants will be required to wear a mask.

To avoid injury, please follow these guidelines:
  • Wear closed-toe shoes.
  • Tie long hair back.
  • Avoid wearing loose clothing, dangling jewelry, scarves, ties, or any item that could get caught in machinery. 
  • Wear hearing protection when using noisy equipment. 
  • Wear safety glasses and/or a dust mask when using specific equipment.

Instructor Bio:

Instructor: Jennifer Stenhouse’s a jewelry artist, sculptor and educator. She has made her home and studio in Seattle, Washington for the past 20 years. She has been teaching art and jewelry classes, workshops, lectured and exhibited throughout U.S. and Mexico for over 25 years. Jennifer is currently in the process of researching for a book she is writing on the History, Timeline, and Technology of Jewelry Casting, and is the current president of the Seattle Metals Guild.

Recognized as an outstanding educator and known expert in the arena of jewelry casting, Jennifer has more recently teaching at the college and adult continuing education levels. Currently, Jennifer works as a production jeweler for Baleen, teaches jewelry classes and workshops.
