About

This is the kick-off for an interest group open to everyone who wants to share skills and learn more about cosplay and costuming. During this first event we will be joined by members of the SheProp Community to talk about their experiences with cosplay and show and tell some of their work! Don’t do cosplay or costuming yourself, but are interested to learn more? This is a great chance to meet some community members and see what possibilities it may hold for you! Can’t come this time, but want to join us in the future? We will be meeting every second Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8pm in BARN’s Fiber Studio - check the calendar for upcoming topics! Have an idea for a topic or theme, or maybe just want to ask a question? Send an email to the organizer at behestdesigns@gmail.com

Instructor
Betsy Hagestedt

Betsy has been working with fiber since she was in elementary school, having learned to sew and knit from her mom. As an anthropologist, she uses her fiber practice as a means of connecting with people from other cultures, embracing the universal nature of fiber arts. Knitting gradually became her specialization due to its portability as she began to travel around the world. You can see some of her fiber experiments on her Instagram feed at behestknits. Since starting at BARN she has been learning as many new skills as possible. She is highly involved in torchworking in the Glass Studio, and has started dabbling with welding and woodturning.
