**This workshop will be conducted via live streaming with Zoom**

Bring your Dad into the kitchen for a family cooking class or surprise him with dinner - it is up to you. We will assemble a lasagna together, as well as make a salad dressing from scratch. 

Participants will be asked to shop and do some minor prep in advance of the class. Recipes, ingredients list and a vegan recipe will be provided before in the reminder email sent 5 days prior to the class start.

Details:

  • Ages 5-16 (ages 5-12 with adult present)
  • This class will be taught via Zoom live streaming. For a great video 
  • on how to use Zoom, watch this tutorial.
  • An email will be sent to you 1 day before the class start date with the Zoom video conferencing link to join the class. Please watch for this email. 
  • The class will include a live cooking demonstration of several recipes, interactive discussions, handouts, recipes, lots of tips and tricks — all from the comfort of your home. 
  • Required Home Equipment 
  1. Large boiling pot

  2. Pasta strainer
  3. Large Saute pan/skillet
  4. Knife- preferably 8-inch chef’s knife
  5. Cutting board
  6. 11x9 baking container (lasagna pan)
  7. Mason jar with lid
  8. Can opener
  9. Alternative: Vegan lasagna will require a food processor.

Instructor Bio:

Meloni Courtway is a professionally trained chef, published food writer and certified teacher of culinary foundations and consumer sciences at Woodward Middle School on Bainbridge Island. As owner of Courtway Catering, a small event company dedicated to making cooking skills and team building part of every kitchen, she taught intimate in home classes and large scale farm workshops, as well as catering events. She has written for Gannett and New York Times publications, and was one of the New York Times first paid food bloggers. Meloni loves working with kids and adults as they explore their own power and capabilities in the kitchen. She also loves pie.
