About

Turn randomly sized blocks of wood into small, elegantly embellished boxes suitable for storing jewelry or other items.

  • Day 1: Starting with a square or rectangular block of wood, choose which face will be the lid. Then cut the block apart in a way that allows it to be glued back together to make a hollowed-out box. No fancy joinery is needed.
  • Day 2: Learn about different was to embellish wood projects, including burning in a design with a hot-tipped tool,  carving with hand tools or a small rotary carving tool, and adding color with milk paints, acrylic paints or stains. Practice techniques on scrap wood. Then embellish your box.

If time allows, you can make more than one box.

Prerequisites
