About

AT&T entered the UNIX commercial market in 1984 with the release of the 3B line of computers. The 3B2 was a low cost desktop computer designed for small to medium sized businesses, and became the official porting platform for UNIX System V Release 3. It also supported an innovative windowing terminal nicknamed the 'Blit'. The 3B2 met with only limited commercial success, and has been largely forgotten in 2022. Seth Morabito has been reverse engineering the 3B2 to build an emulator and bring ancient UNIX back to life. Come learn about the 3B2 desktop computer in this tech talk!

Instructor:

Seth Morabito - Seth is a professional software engineer and occasional hardware tinkerer. He has been interested in preserving vintage computer systems since the mid 1990s, with a focus on simulation and emulation.
