This introductory presentation will teach you what you need to get started building tiny computers that can do all sorts of crazy things. The Raspberry Pi is an open-source computer you can buy for $35 that fits in the palm of your hand. Anytime you need a cheap and simple brain to power your project, a Raspberry Pi is a great place to start.

These devices have revolutionized the creation of small, low-powered, and inexpensive electronics designs. People have used Raspberry Pis to make everything from weather balloons to robots to high-end audio amplifiers to automatic plant waterers to satellite trackers.

This talk assumes you know nothing about the Raspberry Pi and will cover all you need to get started. We will be demoing several of our own Raspberry Pi projects: a video camera equipped robot that can roam your home, an automatic computer-turner-oner, and a few others as well.

Please see the parts list below - if you bring the following, we will help you get your Pi set up:

- 1 Raspberry Pi 3 Model B

- 1 blank 8GB or more micro SD card

Optional - bring these if you want to be able to use your Pi while we're helping other people

- 1 micro USB cable and a wall adapter (the same thing you use to charge your Android phone or tablet)

- 1 USB keyboard

- 1 HDMI cable

- 1 computer monitor that you can plug the HDMI cable into, plus its power cord
