Title: fishBOAT: fish-like motion with "one" moving part, no hull penetration, and a simple design
Description: Martin Garthwaite presents the fishBOAT -- a drone watercraft which achieves complex fish-like motion with (almost) one moving part and no water-sealed bearings or hull penetration. Power utilization and bollard pull data from the initial prototypes will be presented, as well as designs for:
- A tow-craft (which can range in size from 1' to 80', suitable for data acquisition to towing barges) and
- An autonomous torpedo version (not necessarily a tow-craft).
Drive the second prototype in a demonstration tank! Learn about and see the human-powered fishBOOT, which lead to development of the fishBOAT.
Martin will also discuss 3D fabrication techniques, electronic motor control, and patents. See more at fishboat.net
In addition to being an inventor, Martin is a patent attorney at Schwabe, Williamson, and Wyatt.
