About

The Ham SIG (Special Interest Group) is open to newly licensed amateur radio operators (and OT/old timers alike),  those who are interested in becoming hams and the radio curious.

Each month there will be a different radio-related topic.  A presentation will be followed by a discussion and Q&A.

June topic: Amateur Radios & Emergency Preparedness on Bainbridge Island

We will review the ways that amateur radio can be used in an emergency on Bainbridge Island, and address the following questions:

·       How will I put my radio skills and equipment to use in the event of an emergency?

·       Who will I be able to connect with?

·       What systems are in place on Bainbridge Island?

·       Where do I fit in, within the larger picture of emergency radio communications?

·       What training and preparation are available/recommended/required for the type of engagement I choose?

·       What volunteer amateur radio roles are available as a Registered Emergency Worker with the City of Bainbridge Island?

This SIG is open to anyone with an interest in this subject, whether you are a licensed ham radio operator or not.

Cost: Free to members and non-members. Please register so we know how many to expect.

Organized by BARC (Bainbridge Island Amateur Radio Club)
