This beginning level class is a 2-session class designed for anyone interested in designing their own creations and printing them on a 3D printer.  This is a gentle intro to computer design for non-techies meant to get you started.

This class is inspired by fans of other studios who want learn how to make custom jewelry, custom buttons for clothes, custom game pieces and such.

We start with an introduction to 3D printing. If you have already taken a recent orientation to 3D printing, this is a refresher. If you are brand new to 3D printing, this gets you familiar with the technology.

You'll see BARN's printers and gain an understanding of how 3d printers work and what they can make. You will learn about filament, the material 3D printers use to make prints.  We'll start a print and you'll see the printer in action.

We will spend most of the time introducing computer aided design (CAD) using Tinkercad, a free program that is easy to work with for those new to CAD. We will design several items as we get to know the program. TinkerCAD may not be as powerful as other programs, but it is a powerful program that is less overwhelming to the beginning designer.
