Learn Drypoint on Plexiglass

Drypoint is a rich and experimental form of non-toxic intaglio printmaking. Prints are created by scribing into plexiglass with an etching tool, forcing ink into the lines, and sending plates through an etching press to reveal the image from the plate onto paper.  Students will learn mark making techniques, image building, and inking/printing skills.  Entry level and experienced printers welcome.

Time:  Sept. 28, 2014   10:00 am-5:00 pm with 1 hr. lunch

Cost:  70.00 member  85.00 nonmember

Instructor:  Kim Van Someren 

Kim holds a MFA in Printmaking from the University of Washington. She is currently the Instructional Technician in Printmaking, Fibers, Painting, Drawing and IVA at the University of Washington.  She is also an instructor in Etching at Pratt Fine Arts Center and Kirkland Arts Center. Kim has exhibited locally and nationally; her work included in several collections including the New York Public Library, the University of Iowa, the University of Washington and Yale University’s Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library.  She is represented locally by Davidson Galleries.

Class Size:  Maximum 8    Minimum 6

Supplies for students to bring:

2- 8x10 or 2- 9x12 plexiglass plates

1- scribe for etching
