Everyone dreams. Learning to tap the wildly imaginative unconscious material available to you each night can become a source of inspiration for your stories, poems, novels or screenplays. The very act of recording a dream will lead to incorporating characters, plot, feeling and emotion that can move through an ordinary story and give it three-dimensional shape and sizzle.

Explore how to access this wealth of information within you using your dreams as a springboard for creativity. Learn about dream inspired writers who have spun their dream imagery into famous masterpieces. Dreams can unclog writer’s block and stimulate creativity in any area of your life.

By applying the basics of dream lore, journal and incubation techniques, you can boost your creative skills, add dimension and freshen your approach every time you pick up a pen or open a new document. Awaken the images within and invite them into your writing!

Instructor: Marlene King is a writer, artist, mental health professional and former corporate executive who uses dreams in her work. She has taught classes in Creative Dreamwork, Dream Appreciation, Mandala Awareness, Symbolic Imagery in Dreams, Dream Inspired Writing and has conducted creative Dream Groups for over twenty years.

Marlene’s writing credits include her column, “Dream Times,” in Dream Network Journal where she was an editor and contributor of feature articles. Her inspirational stories are in Simon and Schuster's national best sellers Chocolate for a Woman's Soul series of anthologies, and she has written articles, stories and award-winning poetry for The Writer Magazine, Oregon Restaurateur Magazine, Wellspring Journal, Intuition Magazine, Rogue Gallery's Odds & Ends Poetry, ASD's Dream Times and Stress-free Living Magazine and Chicken Soup for a Girlfriend’s Soul and selected as one of 101 Best Stories in Chicken Soup for the Soul. 

Marlene has completed a niche genre non-fiction journal, a spiritual fiction novella and is completing a second novel about a different sort of afterlife experience. She has completed four screenplays - a melting pot drama, a psychological thriller, a romantic comedy and crime drama mystery. You’ll also find her listed in Elizabeth Lyon’s National Directory of Editors and Writers for Hire.
