About

Explore all kinds of ink drawing tools from fountain pens to micro-fine liners. We'll play with mark making in the beginning of the class so we have an idea of what the pens can do, then move on to more descriptive and purposeful drawing as we hone our skills.

No experience is necessary, and you'll be able to explore drawing with pen and ink in a relaxed, stress-free environment. The instructor will demonstrate various techniques so you can replicate imagery in black and white. This class is ideal for those who have been wanting to try pen and ink, those who already work in this medium but want to use different pens and see how they work, OR for those who work in another medium and want to learn how to create imagery for intaglio, glass painting, etc.

Details

  • A materials fee of $15, included in the price of the class, covers a set of finer liner pens and paper for each student.
  • You'll also have the use of BARN’s fountain pens and inks.
  • You should bring any pictures to draw or image references, any pens you wish to try, a sharpie, and a ballpoint pen.

Class Policies

Ages 14 and up are welcome.

Instructor
Dana Seeger

Dana Harris Seeger was born in San Francisco and split her childhood between California and Indiana. She pursued her passion in high school and college and received a bachelor's degree in painting from Anderson University in Indiana in 2004 and a master's in fine arts in printmaking from San Jose State University in 2011. She is a member of the California Society of Printmakers. In 2014, Dana co-created an art studio and school in San Jose, Calif., called the School of Visual Philosophy. Her work in printmaking and painting helps her connect real to imagined memories and her life experiences to her heritage. Growing up as a second-generation Baltic American, she has always tried to connect the artifacts acquired from Estonia and Latvia into her own story. She lives in Poulsbo with her husband (a sculptor), daughter, and twin sons. Visit her website at www.danaharrisseeger.com
