Mondays, July 11 and 18 from 10 am to 1 pm

Materials fee: $21 payable in class
Includes kiln fee, copper wire, and dichroic glass. If participants want to use silver wire, they must bring their own.

Participants will make dichroic glass cabochons and then turn them into jewelry using a technique called wire wrapping.

In the first session students will work with dichroic and other glass to design cabochons, beads, and earrings. They can bring with them found objects, such as beach glass, rocks, etc., to enhance and wrap with these fused glass pieces.

In the second session Jill will give a short introduction on tools and wire-wrapping techniques. She will demonstrate a variety of techniques, and then students can work independently to create their pendant and earrings. She will also teach the participants how to make a pair of ear wires and jump rings.

Remember to wear closed-toed shoes and to bring found objects to embellish your glass and wire designs.

Instructors:

Jill Sundberg grew up on Bainbridge Island, where she has been designing and producing jewelry in the Seattle area for nearly two decades. Much of her inspiration comes from the materials she uses and the organic shapes she finds in nature. Jill is intrigued by the never ending variety of textures, shapes, and colors within different bead groups-- facets, irregularities, every color in the spectrum, shiny and matte

Diane Bonciolini is the "olini" of Mesolini Glass Studio, and glass is her passion.   As a full-time glass artist who has lived and worked on Bainbridge Island since 1977, she grows and changes with every project. Glass, her medium of choice, has a life of its own.  This multifaceted medium shows itself in each of her creations:  stained glass, slumped and fused glass, lamp work, or glass combined with concrete.
