3D printers are wonderful tools. Many users rely on massive collections of shared 3D models from sites like Thingiverse.com. In this class we’ll demonstrate and focus on how to create your own simple 2D designs and turn them into 3D objects you can print.

In this modern class you’ll need to bring your laptop loaded with your favorite 2D vector drawing program and 3D CAD software. We’ll use computer typefaces, modify and combine them into single designs and show you how to convert them from 2D to 3D. Then we’ll make creative use of the options available in common 3D printing slicing software to make interesting 3D printed objects as gifts.

• Intro to setting up 3D Printers for successful output
• Learn how to design for 3D printing
• Learn how to design and combine single color printed objects into multi-color 3D objects
• Learn how to make creative use of 3D printer slicer software
• Take 2D-to -3D techniques and apply to practical designs

Instructor Bio:

Tim Celeski studied architecture and design and spent more than 30 years in business as a designer. Once he discovered woodworking, he fell in love with the craft and became a full-time furniture designer and maker. His extensive line of original design furniture is in collections across the US and Canada. He’s a contributing editor writing on digital woodworking methods for Popular Woodworking Magazine. He is currently focusing on fine art sculpture, contemporary furniture and design projects using CNCs, Laser Cutters and 3D Printers.
