Please join us for a rare opportunity to join Hidde Van Duym, who has worked with montage, assemblage, and collage for many years, and whose works are in collections world-wide.  

Hidde will start us out with conceptual discussions on Saturday, looking at the why of collage.  We'll  work with each other to generate meaningful ideas that can be realized in assemblage, and explore a variety possibilities.

On Sunday, we'll work on a mock-up of our concepts, learning about collage techniques, materials and tools.  We'll experiment, assemble ephemara, decorative papers, and photographs, and devolop a plan for making our final piece.

This workshop is open to all levels, from beginner to advanced.  

Instructor: Largely a self-taught artist, Van Duym worked with lithography, etching and welding before beginning to experiment with three-dimensional watercolor montage in the early 1980s. By playing on the interaction of meaning, space and color, Hidde produces visual discoveries that go beyond the laws of time and space. Working in ink and watercolor, he builds complex and unique box constructions to house his paintings.
