This opportunity has prerequisites. Please see below.
Get more experience with the table saw and basic box construction as you help outfit the gallery of a community partner: Bainbridge Arts & Crafts. This island non-profit focuses on exhibitions, art education and community outreach. Many BARN members have showcased their pieces at the gallery.
To support Bainbridge Arts & Craft's recent renovation, the BARN woodworking studio is fabricating new display cubes and pedestals for the artwork. The gallery's donation box, shown in the picture, was built by BARN member David Grant as an earlier community service project and gives an idea of the style of the new pieces.
To fabricate 24 display cubes and pedestals, we need six volunteers per shift for three afternoons — 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 13, 14 & 15. Each session appears separately on the calendar, so you can sign up for one or all, as your schedule allows.
If you have any questions regarding this or future community service projects, please email Wayne Chang at wwchang@mac.com. Community service projects are a great way to get to know other woodworkers, share and expand your skills, and help build a stronger community.
