About

BARN member: Free
Non-member:  $10

Monday, January 18 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm

Learn how to safely operate the BARN Woodshop's cutoff saw, band saws and scroll saws to make the types of cuts needed for a variety of projects. If there is time, operation of the drill press will be covered as well. Every participant will have a chance to practice adjusting the tools and making a variety of cuts.

This class is designed for beginners as well as woodworkers who want to polish their skills and understanding of safety issues so they can get checked out on these tools. Once checked out, BARN members and guests can work on personal or community service projects during open shop time. A BARN membership pays for use of the shop during open studio times, which are listed on the BARN woodworking calendar.

Open to 14 years old and up

NOTE: The first six people to sign up will be able to participate at the date and time listed. Additional sections will be opened if demand warrants.

INSTRUCTOR: Dave Whitacre moved to Bainbridge in 2013 after he retired as a petroleum engineer in Alaska. Woodworking has been his hobby for the past 40-plus years. He's enjoyed designing and building traditional-styled furniture and hopes to broaden his skills and techniques now that he has more time to devote to the craft.
