About

Learn to weave over a small form using red cedar bark and waxed linen thread. You'll have many colors of waxed linen to choose from to create the triple-twined reverse pattern. You'll learn plaiting, twining, triple twin reverse wale, twill, flip and fold rim. A leather cord will be attached, making this a beautiful and fun necklace to wear.

  • All levels are welcome, although prior basketry experience is helpful.
  • Approximate size of the amulet is 2.5 inches by 2 inches.

  • A $45 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers all the materials you'll need for this project: 1/8-inch Western red cedar bark, waxed linen thread, and leather cord.
  • Feel free to bring your own decorative beads or embellishments.

Class Policies

Ages 14 and up are welcome.

Jennifer Wool

Jennifer Wool is from San Jose, CA, and has been creating 3-D artwork for over 40 years working in clay, gourds, basketry, and fiber arts. She gives basketry workshops throughout California, Oregon, and upstate New York. Inspired by the beauty of nature around her, Jennifer gathers and harvests tree barks, grasses, sticks, and many other natural materials that she incorporates into her artwork. She enjoys each step in the creative process and teaching basketry skills to her students.
