Build a modern-style garden shed for BARN in this two-day class, and in the process learn all the steps from framing to finishing.

Most of the work will be done outdoors, using portable power tools such as circular saws and cordless drills. The building, about 8 feet by 10 feet, will have a style similar to the one in the picture, which shows a prefab design from Studio Shed, a firm in Colorado.

• Open to beginners.
  
• No added materials fee.
  
• Wear weather-appropriate clothing, including sturdy shoes. Bring work gloves. Bring safety glasses or use ones provided by BARN when you are working with tools. 
  
• Bring a mid-afternoon snack if you think you will want one. The class format assumes you will have had lunch before the class begins.
  

Instructor: Kevin Mills, an industrial designer and former exhibits builder for the Tuscon Children's Museum who is working to create an adventure playground on Bainbridge Island. For the past two years, he has headed the BARN volunteer crew responsible for building the LandSlide for the Harvest Fair at Johnson Farm.
