About

If the thought of promoting your book makes your knees go weak, take heart. While you can’t simply publish and hope the promotion fairies will take care of the rest, you can sell your books without selling your soul.

In this no nonsense workshop, author and former marketing director Lisa Manterfield offers practical advice for building a realistic promotion plan. Acknowledging that you can’t do it all (but you have to do something) she’ll help you build a community of ardent supporters dying to tell others about your work

With the help of in-class exercises and take-away worksheets, you’ll learn to:

·      Identify your ideal readers and where to find them

·      Use your existing “fans” to spread the word

·      Discover promotional activities you actually enjoy and make them a habit

·      Develop real connections, not just fill your social media dance card

·      Create a workable long-term plan to build your readership

Whether you’re still writing and believe it’s too soon to think about promotion (it’s not) or ready to publish and in a panic, you’ll leave with a solid plan for taking small, yet decisive, steps toward getting your book into the hands of readers who will love it.

Instructor: Lisa Manterfield is the author of Life Without Baby: Surviving and Thriving When Motherhood Doesn’t Happen and the award-winning memoir I’m Taking My Eggs and Going Home: How One Woman Dared to Say No to Motherhood. Her nonfiction writing has been featured in a broad range of publications, including Huffington Post, Los Angeles Times, andPsychology Today, and her short stories have appeared in The Saturday Evening Post and Zetetic. Currently, she is preparing to publish her debut novel. Learn more about her work at LisaManterfield.com.
