This two-day workshop is designed for teachers of 7 - 14 year olds, with methods and techniques that may be modified to accommodate other age groups. We will spend the first day decorating paper to use in our books.  These kid (and teacher)-friendly techniques are easy and simple but yield really beautiful papers with which to create books.  We’ll also go over basic bookbinding techniques using simple materials and equipment found in the standard classroom.  Later that day, we’ll create classroom-tested and kid-approved book structures that are quick, simple and mess-free, while discussing several ways that bookmaking can be integrated into your current lesson plans.  On the second day, we will build on the methods learned by creating pamphlet and accordion structures with greater complexity, as well as combination bindings.  You will leave with a variety of book structures and ideas for including book arts in your classroom. No previous art or bookbinding experience necessary.
