This 2-day workshop will focus on the techniques used to create unique settings and using bezels and wire to create stone settings for jewelry.  This workshop allows students to hone their soldering, fabrication and finishing skills while learning stone setting techniques.

We will cover how to create bezel settings for cabochon cut stones, unusual stone shapes, and found objects. Students will learn tips and tricks for soldering and construction. Students will also learn great ways to use the flex shaft for setting, and finishing. Students will learn by practicing the techniques demonstrated using bezel wire for creating a variety settings for stones.

Demos will include how to make a perfect bezel setting with bezel wire, tricks for soldering and set up.  We will also touch on simple solutions for unique bezels and more. The focus will be on demos, and practicing the techniques, soldering and construction tricks that help hold the work together, and to use burs for accurate connection.  Students will have samples for settings to use for finished pieces.

• This is a beginning/ intermediate level class.
• Prerequisite: Students should have some soldering skills. 
  
• $25 materials fee is included in class tuition.
• Please bring a bag lunch. BARN has a refrigerator and microwave, located on the lower level.

Instructor: Jennifer Stenhouse’s a jewelry artist, sculptor and educator. She has made her home and studio in Seattle, Washington for the past 20 years. She has been teaching art and jewelry classes, workshops, lectured and exhibited throughout U.S. and Mexico for over 25 years. Jennifer is currently in the process of researching for a book she is writing on the History, Timeline, and Technology of Jewelry Casting, and is the current president of the Seattle Metals Guild.

Recognized as an outstanding educator and known expert in the arena of jewelry casting, Jennifer has more recently teaching at the college and adult continuing education levels. Currently, Jennifer works as a production jeweler for Baleen, teaches jewelry classes and workshops.
