Tapestry Weaving has an ancient history.  The oldest samples come from Egypt 1400 B.C.E., with reports of magnificent tapestry woven in Mesopotamia during even more ancient times.  The range and richness of tapestry weaving over the millenniums represents one of the greatest body of fiber arts.

Create your own piece of history through this introductory class on tapestry weaving.  

In this class you will:

• Explore various traditional tapestry techniques;  
• learn to warp your loom;
• design and weave your own unique tapestry piece;
• learn to troubleshoot common problems in weaving; 
• learn finishing techniques; 

Instructor Bio: Amy Weber apprenticed for two years with a Master Weaver in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she learned to weave tapestries and rugs.  She then opened her own studio in the late 1980’s and continued to dye, weave and sell wall pieces for the next 15 years. Her work is in collections in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Sweden and Japan. She has shown weavings at the Westchester and Washington D.C. fine craft shows as well as through the American Craft Council shows in Baltimore and San Francisco.

Who Can Take the Workshop: People ages 14 and older.

Material Fees: $50

Your material fees will cover the cost yarn, use of floor looms, and studio supplies.
