Make a high-end pen from koa, burled or spaltedwood, or tabilized wood and learn advanced finishing techniques in this intermediate-level class. Pens of this quality typically retail for around $75 or more.

Open to students who have previous pen-turning or spindle-turning experience. BARN classes that qualify you include Intro to Pen Turning, Intro to Wood Turning and Turning Between Centers. Other turning experience may be OK; contact the instructor at 808-990-2842 to discuss.

An additional fee of $25 to cover materials is payable at the class. Please bring cash or a check.

Instructor: Oscar Barbo has been a woodworker and turner for more than 25 years. He learned to turn in Hawaii, where he relished making pens from the local Koa wood. He often uses rare woods and non-wood materials like bone and antler. He is looking to share his skills while promoting pen design.
