About

Kiln Carving is a fiber embossing glass process technique. This Advanced Kiln Carving Class will move your glass past a flat surface to create a bas relief. You will learn to create texture and a sculptural appearance in your piece. 

This class will take your kiln carved piece in new directions by developing your design with the opportunity of added embellishment, additional texture, contours, iridescent glass and color!

Design Inspiration design boards will be provided. We will discuss and explore a series of design boards to spark your creative design ideas. This is a great introduction to fused glass, as well as a technique for glass artists.

Beginners are welcome. No previous glass experience is necessary.

Details:

• You will take home a platter of your own design on a beautiful 10“ x 10” iridescent  glass. Class picture examples are represented here.

• Materials fee of $60 is included in the tuition.

Instructor Bio:

At heart, Anne Miller is an artist and designer whose chosen mediums include concrete, textiles, clay, paper, metal, encaustic, stained and now fused glass.

Her passion took her on many paths, ceramics and portraiture, and eventually led to a career in graphic and textile design and as a Marimekko retailer, toy and apparel designer.

Combining her talents for design and business, she pursued a career with Herman Miller and Steelcase, that spanned 35 years.

Recently retired, Anne’s degree and passion for art and design has led her to BARN to immerse herself and focus on all forms of art-creating, designing and having a terrific time.
