About

Join us for two sessions of learning the options, obstacles, and best-practices of creating your long-desired T-shirt quilts.

You'll first prepare your beloved T-shirts. You'll measure, prep, stabilize, square up, determine layout and color scheme, sashing and setting. This will lead you on your way to sewing it all together and preserving memories.

This is a great opportunity to connect with others, learn a new skill, and make a memory or gift to be cherished. There will be a fair bit of homework hours between the two sessions, and we encourage you to plan accordingly so you stay on track with the class.

Details

  • Skill level: Non-quilters are warmly welcome, however a reasonable understanding of fiber, sewing, measuring, pressing, etc., are required. If you're unsure of your skill, feel free to reach out to the instructors. We're eager to have you join!
  • While the class itself has no prerequisites, if you plan on using a BARN sewing machine, you must have completed Fiber Sewing Machine Certification.
  • For more information or questions, please contact Danielle at daniellemarianiemail@gmail.com

Materials

You need to bring:

  • A silicone, non-stick fusing mat for applique, craft, and heat.
  • T-shirts: 10 to 25 unaltered, uncut, clean (uniforms, etc.).
  • At least 10 yards of Pellon 911FF  featherweight fusible interfacing (can be found in most fabric/craft stores and online, including Amazon).
  • You're encouraged to bring a basic sewing kit of your own with things like a rotary cutter, small ruler, seam ripper, pins, fabric scissors, fabric marking pens, small cutting mat, starch or starch alternative etc. If not, no worries as BARN is stocked with most needed sewing items.
