About

Learn one of several ways to create the pattern you'll use on the path to casting the bronze you envision. The instructor will guide and help you with all the intricacies of creating what is needed to produce a working mold for your casting.

This three-session class is the first of a three-part series that takes you though the process of creating your own bronze masterpiece.

  • Bronze Casting: Patternmaking (this class): Begin your casting journey by creating your pattern that will be used to make the mold into which molten bronze will be poured.
  • Bronze Casting: Casting in the Foundry: Make the mold from your own pattern (or use one of BARN's) and see molten bronze being poured into your mold in this introduction to metal casting.
  • Bronze Casting: Finishing Your Casting: This is the third in the series, and where you'll learn to transform your raw casting into your vision. Cut and grind the unwanted parts away, file and polish, then complete with a lustrous patina that makes bronze art such a delight to see and hold.

After completing these three classes, the Bronze Casting: Guided Open Studio in the Foundry is where advanced casting skills are perfected. This series is self-paced with separate registration for each class.

Materials

A $20 materials fee, included in the cost of the class, covers the supplies you'll need.
