About
You and one other woodworker (at most) will work under the guidance of a professional woodworker whose vast experience can help guide you towards the successful completion of your project.
The session will be one and a half hours if only one student is registered, and three hours if two students are registered. Students are welcome to work without guidance on projects during the other Open Studio hours.
This experience promises to build your woodworking knowledge while increasing confidence and skill using the woodshop.
Details
- Skill level: Open to beginning woodworkers, as well as those with more experience who are seeking help with an unfamiliar process or a technical challenge, such as determining the most suitable joinery or designing a jig.
- Bring your own materials.
- You'll share the shop and tools with others, just as in any Open Studio.
Prerequisites
- You must have completed Orientation to the Woodshop.
- To use specific power tools, you must have taken the appropriate tool safety checkout classes:
- Woodshop Tool Safety Checkout 1 qualifies you for jointers, planers, table saws, chop saw, and drill presses.
- Woodshop Tool Safety Checkout 2 covers the bandsaws, routers, and router tables, scroll saws and three stationary sanding machines: edge, drum and spindle.
Class Policies
- Ages 14 and up are welcome.
- Wear safety glasses and closed-toe shoes, tie back long hair, and avoid loose-fitting clothing and jewelry. We recommend bringing your own safety glasses.
BARN Policies
- View BARN's Cancellation and Refund Policy.
- Tuition Assistance is available. Fill out the application before registering.
