About

Choose your wood from a variety of pieces that BARN will supply, design the shape you want, then cut it on a bandsaw, and sand it smooth. You might also use a scroll saw, drill press, or wood-burning tools, depending on details in your design. The instructor and other experienced woodworkers will help guide you to the most appropriate tools for your project and how to use them.

Your design can be a simple geometric shape or something like a pig, fish, or apple, which in past decades were often featured on folk-style cutting boards.

Materials

A $15 materials fee, included in the class fee, covers everything you need.

Class Policies

  • Ages 14 and up are welcome.
  • You must wear safety glasses and closed-toe shoes, tie back long hair, and avoid dangling jewelry and clothing.
  • We recommend bringing your own safety glasses.
