About

This is all about creativity, fun, and safety in the welding shop. It's designed to build skills and confidence to safely use various tools for more challenging projects. And, it's a great way to see if metal working is something you want to delve into more deeply. Above all, this is truly an enjoyable class full of great learning experiences!

Receive basic instruction on how to:

  • Safely cut steel with saws and grinders.
  • Free-form cut steel with our plasma torches.
  • Tack-weld with our Miller 215 MIG (metal inert gas) welders.

Details

  • Ages 12 - 16.
  • Skill Level: Beginner.
  • Bring water and a snack.

Registering Youth

  • Parent/guardian registering a child for the first time: When you register, select "Others Only" in the "Who Are You Registering?" section. On the next page, select "Add New Registrant." Create an account for your child.
    • The next time you register your child, use "Search Registrants" to select them.
  • Make sure to fill out your youth's emergency contact information and other details when creating their account.

Materials

A $10 materials fee, included in the price of the class, covers everything you'll need.

Class Policies

  • Ages 12 - 16 are welcome.
  • Wear natural-fiber clothing, long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toed shoes (preferably leather or cotton). No stretch fabrics.
  • Personal protection equipment will be provided.
