About

BARN has offered this class as part of its Summer Youth program, but numerous grownups have said: "Why not for me?" This session is an answer to that. It's open to ages 14 and up, so high school students also are welcome.

The seat and back on this chair are separate pieces that slide together and interlock to become a chair. If you want to pop the chair into a car before a picnic or stow it away for winter, you can separate the sections without any tools, leaving two nearly flat, easy-to-carry pieces.

Learn how the properties of wood influenced the design details of this chair. Then lay out the parts and use a variety of power tools to cut and smooth the legs and the slats. You'll attach the slats to the legs with screws.

Materials

A $85 materials fee, included in the class fee, covers everything you need.
